Experience your husky tour with Husky Point Røros AS!
We are located in Os i Østerdalen, Norway. It's just a 25 minutes drive from the UNESCO world heritage town of Røros, and a 3 hour drive south of Trondheim.
In 2016, we took the kennel on from its former owner, Ketil Reitan, a Norwegian musher and guide who chose to spend more time in Alaska.
When you visit us, you'll be welcomed by us, Frode and Øydis, around 80 Alaskan huskies, and often our volunteers. We speak Norwegian and English, and - depending on current volunteers - also for example Dutch, German or French.
During winter, we offer dog sled tours in the beautiful landscape of the Røros wilderness, and in summer/autumn cart tours or hikes can be booked.
You'll find more information on our tours on this website oder on our booking site.
Lead your own dog team -
a smile is guaranteed
We offer day trips and overnight trips with a dog team, travelling across the breathtaking mountains of the Røros region. You get to drive your own team of
huskies, following one of our professional guides. Or, on many trips, you can only be a passenger on a guide's sled/cart.
WINTER
In winter, we offer full or half day trips, in addition to trips with an overnight stay in a cabin. You can drive your own sled or travel as passenger.
SUMMER / AUTUMN
In the summer and autumn season, you can go on cart trips for full or half days or hike with pack dogs, also with overnight stays in a cabin or tent.
OUR DOGS
We have approximately 80 Alaskan huskies at our kennel, from the young to the old. All of them are looking forward to run with you.
ACCOMODATION
We offer transportation from and to all the nearby hotels/accomodations. But you may also stay at our kennel and learn more about our daily work.
QUESTIONS?
Before or when you book a husky tour with us, you might have some questions or queries and find answers on our website.
We are looking for a dog handler/volunteer at our kennel for the summer season.
Previous experience is not necessary, but you should be motivated, independent and willing to learn. Your tasks will be to care for the puppies and youngsters, including feeding, training and socialising them. You should also be willing to spend time with the dogs in the yard, petting and looking after them. Apart from that, you may hike with pack dogs in the beautiful mountains around the kennel.
You will live in your own little hut at the kennel, with access to toilet and shower.
If this sounds interesting to you, please get in touch with
Frode (+47 95419225) or Øydis (+47 97738903).
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
